Three Cases of Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma int he Head and Neck

Abstract
Malignant fibrous histiocytomas (MFH) are pleomorphic, high grade sarcomas. They are now known to be the most common soft tissue sarcomas of late adult life. Although MFH has a wide variety of locations, they most commonly involve the
extremities.
The
MFH have a high recurrence and metastatic rate which is attributable to the microscopic spread of the lesion from the main body of the tumor.
Out of the three cases of MFH, two cases were treated by surgery and postoperative radiation therapy and one case was treated by radical surgery alone. A case treated by surgery and postoperative radiation therapy was deceased because of local
failure,
and the remaining two cases are currently being following and relatively mild disease courses are observed. (Korean J Otolaryngol 38:12, 1995)
